Sibongile Machika is Publisher with more than 10 years’ experience in industry. She has worked for some of the leading publisher in SA including NB Publishers, Jacana Media, Pan Macmillan and Maverick451, the book publishing arm of the Daily Maverick.

Now a Commissioning Editor a Jonathan Ball Publisher, her role involves seeking out South Africa’s voices of tomorrow and giving those with untold stories a platform to express themselves and reach new audiences. Her publications include The Inheritors by Eve Fairbank, Coloured by Tessa Dooms and Lynsey Ebony Chutel, and The Race To Be Myself by Caster Semenya.

Named one of Mail & Guardian’s top 200 Young South Africa, Sibongile holds a BA honour in journalism and media studies from the University of the Witwatersrand and a BIS: Publishing from the University of Pretoria.
