Irene Taylor Fynn is the sixth of seven siblings, an activist, educator, conflict-resolution mediator, mother, and author. She prides herself on being an advocate for reading and writing, as well as a catalyst for positive change within society. Irene’s memoir is based on her experiences growing up on Hime Street in the suburb of Wentworth, Durban, an area often marked by high levels of substance abuse and gangsterism.
"When we read we are able to travel to many places, meet many people and understand the world. We can also learn how to deal with problems we are having by learning from the lessons of the past."
– Nelson Mandela
