Sifiso Mzobe

Sifiso Mzobe is a writer, editor, and translator from Umlazi Township, south of Durban. Formerly a crime reporter, his opinion pieces have appeared in The Daily News and The Sunday Times. For over a decade, he worked with Fundza Literacy Trust, publishing fiction and journalism while mentoring young writers. He writes and translates between English and isiZulu, including works such as The Shadow Chasers series and Blood, Blades and Bullets: Anatomy of a Glebelands Hitman by Nathi Olifant. His debut novel, Young Blood (2010) won several awards, including the Sunday Times Fiction Prize and the Wole Soyinka Prize. It has been translated into German and published in North America, where it was shortlisted for the Hurston Wright Legacy Award. Mzobe has co-judged the Hurston Wright Debut Fiction Award from 2023 to 2025. His short story collection, Searching for Simphiwe (2020), was published to critical acclaim.
