Fred Khumalo

Fred Khumalo is an award-winning author of twelve books. His novel Dancing the Death Drill (2017) won the NIHSS Award and has been adapted into a stage play, while his short story collection Talk of the Town (2019) won the Nadine Gordimer Award.
A journalist and book editor, he holds an MA in Creative Writing from Wits University, is a Nieman Fellow at Harvard University, a Fellow of the Academy of the Arts of the World (Cologne, Germany), the Stellenbosch Institute for Advanced Study, and the Johannesburg Institute for Advanced Study. He is also a PhD candidate in Creative Writing at the University of Pretoria. Khumalo’s other works include Two Tons O’ Fun (2020), A Coat of Many Colours (2021), and The Longest March (2019).
