Thenjiwe Mswane is the author of the Sunday Times Fiction Prize shortlisted novel, All Gomorrahs Are The Same (Blackbird Books, 2021) and self-published children’s book, Uyasabeka (2017).
A Chakra Tsotsi in a spoti from embali enganazimbali; her first Gomorrah.
She once tried self-publishing but lacked the discipline after publishing a children’s book Uyasabeka. Even in her ill-discipline towards the art. She has written for numerous publications including HOLAafrica!, the GALA Queer Archives “Queer Realness”, and the work she is most proud of ‘A kwaito playing guluva’, a poem published in the literary journal, Type/Cast magazine.
Although writing is a large aspect of her career, Thenjiwe finds writing it tedious and difficult, and doesn’t work on it as much as she should because she is also a full-time Higher Education public servant, full-time a PhD Candidate, single parent, sibling, daughter, friend, and struggling lover.
