The ilembe Book Festival is hosting a fiction writing workshop facilitated by acclaimed writers: Sifiso Mzobe and Zukiswa Wanner. The workshop is designed for the creative writer hoping to improve their writing skills, connect with other writers, and learn the ins and outs of publishing.
The workshop is offered through a combination of lessons (covering topics such as characterisation, dialogue, tone, and plot), writing exercises and a critique of work in progress.
- Writers must be residents of South Africa, reside in iLembe District Municipality and be able to travel to Luthuli Museum on 02 February 2024 to attend the workshop.
- Writers must be aged 18 and above.
- Writers are invited to submit an original story or work in progress of 1 500 words in English.
- The story must not have appeared in any other publication (print or digital) before.
- The writer’s name must be typed on the manuscript.
- Submitted work must not be more than 1 500 words.
Please note the workshop will be conducted in both English and isiZulu.

SHORTLIST
The shortlist will be announced by no later than 20 January 2024.
Shortlisted writers will be requested to submit longer works of up to 4000 words by 25 January 2024.
